ABC News Radio anchor George Weber, 50, was found dead this morning in his Brooklyn, NY apartment. Police believe it was a homicide.

The New York Daily News reports Weber “was found in his bed with several stab wounds in his neck and upper torso,” and police believe he died Friday night.

Weber spent nearly a decade doing the news at WABC for “Curtis and Kuby,” before becoming a freelance anchor in 2008. His last newscast was March 15. Weber’s active blog (where the pictures are from) was last updated Friday.

We are in the mess we’re in precisely because of earlier government interference. Easy mortgage terms and guarantees contrived a housing boom and irresponsible lending that could not be sustained. The consequences have shaken the foundation of the financial industry. GENEVA—Secretary of State Hillary Clinton opened her first extended talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov by giving him a present meant to symbolize the Obama administration’s vow to “press the reset button” on U.S.-Russia relations.

She handed a palm-sized box wrapped with a bow. Lavrov opened it and pulled out the gift: a red button on a black base with a Russian word peregruzka printed on top.

“We worked hard to get the right Russian word. Do you think we got it?” Clinton asked.

“You got it wrong,” Lavrov said.

Instead of “reset,” Lavrov said the word on the box meant “overcharge.”

Former Vice President Al Gore repeated his message that climate change is a planetary emergency at the WSJ’s Eco:nomics conference in California. The Nobel-prize winner declined to take any questions from reporters, but he did receive a couple of challenges from attendees, including Bjorn Lomborg. But don’t expect Mr. Gore to debate the merits of how best to tackle climate change anytime soon.

Mr. Gore stuck to his prepared script about the urgency of taking action to curb global greenhouse-gas emissions, down to well-worn phrases he trots out at conferences across the country: America is at “a political tipping point” on climate change, and even if Washington has failed to address the energy challenge in the last 35 years, “political will is a renewable resource.”

But he was challenged by Mr. Lomborg, the Danish skeptical environmentalist who thinks the world would be better off spending more money on health and education issues than curbing carbon emissions.

“I don’t mean to corner you, or maybe I do mean to corner you, but would you be willing to have a debate with me on that point?” asked the polo-shirt wearing Dane.

“I want to be polite to you,” Mr. Gore responded. But, no. “The scientific community has gone through this chapter and verse. We have long since passed the time when we should pretend this is a ‘on the one hand, on the other hand’ issue,” he said. “It’s not a matter of theory or conjecture, for goodness sake,” he added.

In 1987, then Colorado Governor Richard Lamm said that elderly and infirmed people have a “duty to die” and not be a drag on the health care system or our economy. Obama is obviously planning a return to this attitude when he speaks of “cost control” in health care.

Barbara Bush, 83, is recovering nicely from open-heart surgery today after she had a valve replaced. This would likely not happen in Obamacare because of her advanced age. Talk about dehumanizing behavior.

Anyone who is either sick, knows someone who is sick, or thinks they might get sick in the future should be scared to death of Obama’s evil health care proposals. Remember, with Obama, it’s your duty as a citizen to live for the government and not for yourself. The government determines all fairness and all decency, just like it does in Castro’s, Chavez’s and Kim Jong-Il’s country.

Thousands of patients with terminal cancer were dealt a blow last night after a decision was made to deny them life prolonging drugs.

The Government’s rationing body said two drugs for advanced breast cancer and a rare form of stomach cancer were too expensive for the NHS.
